PRESS: Russia’s VimpelCom CFO Ivanov to leave company
MOSCOW, Sep 22 (PRIME) -- Nikolai Ivanov, chief financial officer at Russian mobile operator VimpelCom, is going to resign after accepting an offer from another employer, business daily Vedomosti reported citing the company’s spokeswoman Anna Aybasheva and other people familiar with the matter.
Ivanov has been working at VimpelCom for three years, and his appointment was the first staff decision by Mikhail Slobodin, the then-CEO, who resigned in early September after being involved into the graft enquiry.
Slobodin and Ivanov worked together at TNK-BP, which used to be one of the country’s biggest oil companies.
Under Slobodin, VimpelCom cut expenses. A person familiar with Ivanov said he reorganized purchasing activities, and the company revised contracts with equipment suppliers by making them long-term and more advantageous.
One of the sources close to Ivanov said that his talks with a new employer had started prior to Slobodin’s resignation.
